A delegation from the 'China-ROK (Changchun)
International Cooperation Demonstration Zone' (hereafter referred to as Changchun
Demonstration Zone), an international industrial cooperation platform in
Changchun, Jilin Province, China, visited Korea with the support of the
Korea-China Economic Association, held a 'Seoul Investment Cooperation Briefing
Session' in Seoul on the 29th, and met with Korean companies. A place to share
visions for cooperation and plans for industrial development was prepared.
The event was attended by Xu Yong (徐勇), Secretary of the Working Committee of
the Changchun Demonstration District from China, Kim Jong-cheol, Director of
Trade Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and
Rep. of People Power Party, Han Moo-kyung and Lee In-seon from the National
Assembly from the Korean government. Meanwhile, in the industry, a number of
company representatives attended the event, including Samsung Electronics Vice
President Yoon Jong-deok, SK Innovation Vice President Kim Woo-gyeong, and NKCL
Bio Group Chairman Shin Dong-hwa.
The Changchun Pilot Zone in China is the fourth Korea-China
industrial platform ratified by the State Council of China in April 2020 and
established after the Korea-China Free Trade Agreement (FTA) took effect in
2015.
This project promotes exchanges and cooperation between
Korea and China and leads regional economic cooperation in Northeast Asia. It
received official approval from the Chinese central government to become an
international new city, and is evaluated as having advantages such as various
deregulation and preferential support for policy finance when domestic
companies enter the local market. It is also a place where former Premier Li
Keqiang visited and expressed special affection.
Changchun Demonstration Zone has a total
area of 210 square kilometers and consists of 19 specialized industrial
parks, including industrial innovation base, health food industrial park, and
optoelectronic information industrial park. Cooperation with Korea is so active
that Korean companies such as CJ, Daesang, and TMS have already signed business
agreements or are discussing them.
In addition, Shin Dong-hwa, chairman of
NKCL Bio Group, attended the meeting and said, “NKCL Bio Group proposed the
2022 Changchun Medical Complex project, We expect that the medical complex
business specialized in , anti-aging center and cell therapy development
business will seek mutual opportunities for Korea-China investment joint
ventures and serve as a bridge for future business in China.”
In addition, Shin Dong-hwa, chairman of NKCL Bio Group,
attended the meeting and said, “NKCL Bio Group has proposed Changchun Medical
Complex project in 2022, We expect that the medical complex business
specialized in anti-aging center and cell therapy development business will
seek mutual opportunities for Korea-China investment joint ventures and serve
as a bridge for future business in China.”
Already, large-scale projects are
underway in the fields of automobiles, chemicals, medicine, and new energy with
a total investment of about 30 billion yuan (5.7 trillion won) in the Changchun
pilot zone. A business project worth billion yuan (970 billion won) is
underway.
Recently, NKCL Bio Group has completed
all certification procedures for its technology and production facilities, such
as obtaining licenses from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for high-tech
drug manufacturing and cell processing facilities. In addition, as the
development of the first 1 person NK cell culture system is about to be
completed around April 2023, when the Changchun International Medical Complex
project introducted full-scale in the future, the advantage of being able to
provide differentiated immunotherapy services than any other medical complex is
highlighted.
The Changchun Demonstration Zone is
promoting the establishment of an industrial supply chain through the creation
of clusters specialized for each field, centering on three industrial zones:
Hydrogen Valley, Magnetic Valley, and Beauty Valley. At this event, Secretary
Xu highly praises the technology and development achievements of Korea's
medical industry and reveals his intention to attract more domestic companies
and talents, which is expected to lay the foundation for revitalizing the Korean
business in China, which was suspended after the covid-19 pandemic. .
NKCL Bio Group was invited as a VIP along
with Samsung Electronics and SK Innovation to this briefing, and had time to
deepen discussions with the participants in the Changchun Demonstration Zone.
Meanwhile, National Assembly member Lee In-seon said
in a congratulatory speech at the event, "Changchun is a city with
research and academic infrastructure of 123 research institutes and 40
universities," and wished for good cooperation opportunities with domestic
investors. A member of Congress Han Moo-kyung also said, "I hope that many
domestic companies attending the event and the Changchun pilot zone will
achieve practical investment cooperation that will increase mutual
benefits."
